Orchard's 17 new Year 9 boys- pictured here- have made a confident start at Shiplake. A hectic but exciting first week saw them explore the delights of the Shiplake island, building shelters, and cooking their own suppers on a bbq, with variable results. A mostly dry night ensued, and they were grateful to return to civilization the next morning and sample the delights of a cooked breakfast at the College.
On Friday they joined in with their Duty Teams for the House Activity afternoon, an action packed session which involved creating a drama sketch, a blind obstacle course, chipping golf balls, crazy table tennis, orienteering, and a command task. This was a great opportunity to get to know older pupils in their team and in the House.
All will be involved in rugby matches this week- some on Wednesday, at home v Forest School, and the mighty C team will make its debut with the A and B teams away at Reading Bluecoat on Saturday. Come on Shiplake! Parents are more than welcome to watch the matches, and boys can go home afterwards with parents in Wednesday and Saturday provided Mr Curtis or Mr Alcock is informed.
